Years ago in San Antonio, I worked at a Popeye’s. A coworker and I were talking about Supernatural. About how Sam and Dean were different and the commentary. I had mentioned the name of Jared Padalecki. The manager had heard me and said you know Jared Padalecki?
I had Sort of, why? He had said he knew him. I was surprised, I asked how well? He said he knew him from high school. I asked what was he like?
Mind you me and my co worker never mentioned anything about the show or what he was doing at the time. So the manager continued…
Yeah, He was a nerd, didn’t do much or talk to anyone. I was in football and he was just this geeky kid. A real push over, me and my friends would pick on him. It was good for him, builds character like they say. Why are y'all talking about him? You obviously don’t know him. Not like he’s some big shot or shit like that.
My fellow co worker was in disbelief. I stopped him from saying anything. I looked at the manager and said, I’ll tell you what, they say you can learn a lot about someone by looking them up on the internet. Go ahead look him up.
He proceeds to look him up and his jaw drops, What the fuck? He’s doing that?!
I told him that’s right Paul, and you’re here at Popeye’s. Wearing a baseball cap to cover up your baldness. Because the best years of your life passed you by in high school. Thinking you were better than the people around you. Funny how life works out that way for people like you.
